Join my copywriting network
Are you a freelance writer or media buyer I can count on?
I partner with top-tier copywriters, SEO content creators, and ad specialists for ongoing client projects.
Who you'd be writing for
I'm Jef van de Graaf, a Canadian copywriter who's made a living writing words and building websites for over a decade.
I currently run Copy Ads Content as a one-person shop, and now I'm looking to build a network of writers to assist on client projects.
About me
My career started as an English teacher in Japan, where I built a small school. Then I moved to Taiwan and taught myself copywriting and web design.
I picked up my first clients on Upwork while cycling and backpacking around Asia, and earned around $60,000 there over a couple of years as a Top Rated writer. I'll be honest about what that number means: it isn't a fortune. And I didn't enjoy the platform much. But it paid for flights, apartments in cities I'd never have seen otherwise, and the freedom to choose the work I took. That's the trade I made, and it's the reason I care about how freelancers get treated.
These days the work is B2B and small-business: websites, landing page campaigns, email sequences, and long-form content. I'm moving toward strategy — positioning, messaging architecture, the thinking that happens before anyone writes a word — which means I need writers who can take that thinking and turn it into copy that sells.
Who I'm looking for
Two roles, both freelance, both project-based.
Copywriters
Conversion work: landing pages, homepages, email sequences, ad copy. You'll get a brief with the positioning already decided, plus the research behind it.
What I look for:
- You write for one reader making one decision, not for a word count
- You can hold a client's voice without flattening it into your own
- You've written something that had to perform, and you know whether it did
- You ask questions before writing rather than guessing and hoping
Content Writers
Search-led and thought-leadership articles for B2B audiences. Real research, real sources, real opinions — not 1,500 words of restated keyword.
What I look for:
- You research properly and cite what you learned
- You can write about an industry you didn't know last week
- You understand search intent without writing for robots
- You hit deadlines, and you tell me early when you can't
Ad Specialists Occasionally
I sometimes need people who live in ad accounts — Meta, Google, LinkedIn — and can pair copy with the campaign structure behind it. Apply through the same form and tell me what platforms you actually run.
What you get working with me
Fair rates, paid on time
Per-project pricing agreed upfront. No platform fees taking 20%, no chasing invoices, no "work for exposure" promises.
Detailed briefs
Positioning, audience, research, and the core goal so you know what the client wants (and you're not sifting through 37+ pages of AI slop).
Professional feedback
Direct editorial feedback. If changes are needed, I'll tell you why so you can sharpen your craft on the next round.
Portfolio & references
Most work is ghostwritten for clients, but I'll happily act as a reference and tell you exactly what samples you're safe to show in private pitches.
Long-term roster spot
Prove your worth and we'll go far. My goal is to build a short, reliable list of writers and media buyers rather than run a revolving door.
Zero micromanagement
Hit the deadline, nail the brief, and communicate if something blocks you. I don't care where or when you work.
Ready to apply?
Fill in the form below and include a few samples — published work, a portfolio, or something you wrote for yourself. I read every application, but I only reply to writers who fit what's on my desk right now. Strong applicants may get a paid test project.
